We are a duly registered non-profit organization in Ethiopia, dedicated to nurturing, cultivating, and teaching the invaluable art of Karate-do. As a martial art, the essence of Budo lies in the conduct that shapes the character of each Karateka.
Our goal is to encourage all interested individuals to explore the possibilities and beauty of this discipline. True Karate is about training and developing one’s mind and body in a spirit of humility in daily life. In critical times, it is about being utterly devoted to the cause of justice.

Sensei Hailemichael Assefa, who served as the head coach of the Ethiopian National Karate Team for many years, is a distinguished karate expert who has left an indelible mark on the development of Shotokan Karate in Ethiopia. Holding a 4th Dan black belt and certified as an international coach under the World Karate Federation (WKF), he exemplifies technical excellence and global standards.
With his outstanding skills in the sport, he has repeatedly confirmed his championship status by registering consecutive victories at international karate championships in Dubai and the USA across 2024, 2025, and 2026. A standout milestone in his competitive career was achieved in June 2025, when he proudly secured a gold medal at the Miami Open International Karate Championship in Florida, USA

Hailemichael Assefa Taye (Dudikoff) is the founder and General Director of JKS Ethiopia. Having served for many years as the head coach of the Ethiopian National Karate Team, he is a veteran martial artist who is currently leading a new chapter for Ethiopian Karate. He is dedicated to integrating the sport with modern science, neuro-physical fitness, and the scientific art of ‘Kokyu’ (breathing) to elevate the standards of training in the country.
As an affiliate of the JKS International headquarters in Japan, we follow the global vision of ‘Karate for All’ and inclusive training.

Referee & Rules Commission: A committee of experts dedicated to upholding JKS standards and the new 2026 WKF competition rules while ensuring technical karate quality nationwide.
Women’s Commission: A leadership body dedicated to advancing women’s Karate by enhancing the skills and participation of female members across all regions.
Para-Karate Commission: A program designed to empower citizens with any type of disability to develop their potential through the art of Karate and participate in competitions.

In a historic milestone at the JKS Karate World Championship in Tokyo, Japan, Nabil Kassahun (Kumite) and Eyob Alemu (Kata) secured bronze medals for Ethiopia. In our nation’s debut participation, two additional athletes earned diplomas, showcasing the exceptional technical standard and competitive spirit of JKS Ethiopia on the global stage.”

At the 6th JKS Karate World Championship in Tokyo, Japan, young athlete Nabil Kassahun, hailing from Kombolcha, Amhara Region, made history by securing a Bronze Medal in Kumite while representing Ethiopia. This victory, achieved in Ethiopia’s debut appearance at this prestigious global stage, confirms JKS Ethiopia’s international competitiveness and is a source of great pride for our entire nation.
